Social Value Calculator

Summary

  • Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) groups work in a competitive funding environment, wasting sparse resources evidencing their prevention impact, early intervention work, and VCFSE value to local commissioners. Their services reduce the need for health and care workforce intervention, but their impact is difficult to measure creating a significant system challenge.
  • HBS is developing a flexible and effective web-based tool to improve and make easy, the capture of social value impact and evidence.
  • The SVC is a purpose-built web-based framework designed exclusively by and for the Health & Social Care and VCFSE sectors, addressing the limitations of other generic existing tools. It will assess, measure, and report the impacts of new initiatives, focusing on positive changes like community well-being, prevention, and equitable access to services.  • •The tool will embed the index of multiple deprivation (IMD) and map to VCFSE services and initiatives which can be pinpointed via postcode areas to create detailed cost analysis and impact of service.
  • The SVC will be free of charge to all VCFSE, Health and Care organisations in HWE. Commercialisation of the tool will be considered in 2025.

Product: Co-Produced Web Based Tool

This project intends to produce a user-friendly web-based Social Value and Impact Tool (SVIT) freely accessible to HWE Health & Social Care and VCFSE organisations.

Intended Outcomes

  •  SVIT is the standard tool adopted across HWE Health & Social Care and VCFSE sectors, enabling a unified approach to social impact measurement and management.
  • SVIT is an integral part of social impact assessment and management. It supports the creation and adoption of sustainable service models by enabling the VCFSE to easily evidence impact to commissioners for recurrent funding.
  • HWEICS service commissioners align SVIT outputs to new service contracts
  • There is a culture of ongoing collaboration, updates, and improvements, keeping the SVIT aligned with evolving sector needs and technological advancements.
